Job summary

Veritas Education is partnering with a specialist SEN school in the Morecambe/Lancaster area to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a secondary-aged class with diverse needs. The role runs full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:45–15:30, with start ASAP.

You will support pupils aged 11–16 facing Autism, MLD, Speech & Language needs, and SEMH challenges, providing 1:1 and small-group assistance while aiding planning, differentiation, and emotional regulation.

Qualifications

• SEN experience with pupils (school, care or youth work backgrounds welcome).
• Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
• Strong behaviour management or willingness to learn.
• Commitment to helping young people thrive.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
• Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging, differentiated activities.
• Helping pupils regulate emotions and develop positive social skills.
• Using de‑escalation strategies and behaviour support techniques.
• Supporting personal care where required.
• Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all learners.
