Veritas Education is partnering with a specialist SEN school in the Morecambe/Lancaster area to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a secondary-aged class with diverse needs. The role runs full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:45–15:30, with start ASAP.

You will support pupils aged 11–16 facing Autism, MLD, Speech & Language needs, and SEMH challenges, providing 1:1 and small-group assistance while aiding planning, differentiation, and emotional regulation.

Qualifications

  • SEN experience with pupils (school, care or youth work backgrounds welcome).
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong behaviour management or willingness to learn.
  • Commitment to helping young people thrive.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students.

Responsibilities

SEN Teaching Assistant - SEN School (Morecambe/ Lancaster)

Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 08:45-15:30 - Start Date: ASAP

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs? Veritas Education are working closely with a specialist SEN school who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a secondary‑aged class with a range of additional needs.

About the Role

You will be supporting students aged 11-16 with needs such as Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech & Language needs, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Your role will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support
  • Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging, differentiated activities
  • Helping pupils regulate emotions and develop positive social skills
  • Using de‑escalation strategies and behaviour support techniques
  • Supporting personal care where required
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all learners
What We're Looking For
  • A minimum of a Level 2 TA qualification (or above) is desired but not essential
  • Experience working with SEN pupils (school, care or youth work backgrounds welcome)
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • Strong behaviour management or a willingness to learn
  • A genuine commitment to helping young people thrive
  • The ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with students
Hours & Contract
  • 08:45-15:30, Monday to Friday
  • Term‑time only
  • Long‑term and immediate start available (depending on the school's needs)
