Job summary

Lancashire County Council's specialist SEN school in the Lancaster area is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Secondary Nurture Group. You will support pupils with SEN and complex needs, help them access learning, build confidence and reach their potential.

Starting 19th October 2026, this full‑time role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm. All appointments require enhanced DBS disclosure and safeguarding checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education

Qualifications

• Experience caring for or supporting children with SEN, either in a school or care setting.
• A clear DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Reliable, patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting young people.
• Available to work full-time from 19th October 2026.
• Ability to build positive relationships and remain calm in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students with SEN and complex needs throughout the school day.
• Building positive relationships and providing emotional support.
• Assisting with learning activities both in and out of the classroom.
• Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
• Working closely with teachers and other support staff.
