Job summary

Becker School in Batley is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 5–13 within a nurturing Polaris Community environment. You will work closely with teachers to aid learning and development, with a focus on SEMH support and safeguarding obligations.

The role is fixed-term, full-time, and located on-site in West Yorkshire. You will contribute to lesson delivery, monitor progress, and assist with planning, trips, and activities.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (minimum C) or equivalent.
• Experience as Teaching Assistant or similar role.
• Experience working with SEMH in education setting.
• Willing to undergo Enhanced DBS check.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (max six).
• Support the Class Teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns; liaise with staff.
• Supervise pupils during non-class time and trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work where appropriate and mark work.
• Build positive relationships and drive learning outcomes.
