Job summary

Polaris Community seeks a Teaching Assistant for our new school in Huddersfield. You will mentor and support pupils, assist teachers, and help manage classroom activities. A DBS check is required, and responsibilities include supervising pupils during non-classroom time and supporting learning across the school day.

We welcome applicants with a strong basic education and experience with SEMH settings. The role offers a nurturing environment within Polaris Community and a focus on pupil outcomes.

Qualifications

• GCSE English Language and Mathematics at C or higher.
• A-level or equivalent preferred.
• Experience as Teaching Assistant in educational settings.
• Experience with SEMH is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or small group (up to six).
• Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
• Report pupil progress and concerns to school staff.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time and school trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom prep.
• Set work and mark assignments.
• Build positive relationships to promote engagement and learning.
