Job summary

Polaris Community operates across UK education settings and is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a new school in Andover. You will mentor a pupil or small groups, support teachers during lessons, and help track progress to ensure needs are met while fostering a safe, engaging learning atmosphere.

The role requires GCSEs, IT skills and experience with SEMH pupils; a DBS check will be completed prior to starting.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade C or above.
• Eligible to work in the UK and willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
• Experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (up to six).
• Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and liaise with staff to meet pupils' needs.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time including activities and trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set and mark work where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships to promote learning and engagement.
