Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant for a welcoming school in Wolverhampton. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH, helping them access learning in class and through targeted activities.

The role emphasizes patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children thrive, with ongoing support from a dedicated consultant and potential permanent placement.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable.
  • A good understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Able to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Reliable, proactive, and committed to supporting pupils on a long‑term basis.
  • A genuine passion for helping children and young people thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs.
  • Supporting pupils to access learning both in the classroom and through tailored intervention activities.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement throughout the school day.
  • Assisting with the implementation of individual education and behaviour support plans.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social development using positive strategies.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers and the wider SEN team.
  • Promoting inclusion and celebrating each pupil's individual achievements.
