Job summary

Justteachers Ltd in Birmingham is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school on a full-time basis from September 2026. You will support pupils with a range of additional needs to access learning, build confidence and achieve personal goals within a supportive education environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher, deliver engaging learning activities, monitor progress, and help promote safeguarding, behaviour and emotional wellbeing while

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Commitment to supporting students to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
• Support students with Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and communication needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing.
• Help students develop independence, social skills, and confidence.
• Support pupils during classroom activities, break times, and educational visits.
• Monitor and record student progress and behaviour.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
