Job summary

Justteachers Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with SEMH needs in a specialist school from September 2026. This full-time role focuses on delivering tailored learning programmes, supporting teachers, and building trusting relationships to help students succeed academically and personally.

You will support behaviour management, assist with progress records, and help students develop emotional regulation and social skills.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• A proactive and positive attitude towards supporting vulnerable learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and one-to-one support for students with SEMH needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning programmes.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Support behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Encourage engagement in lessons and school activities.
• Help students develop emotional regulation, social skills, and self-confidence.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour.
