Job summary

New Bridge School (Roman Road Campus) in Oldham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant Level 1 to support pupils with diverse needs. The role involves assisting a designated form group in a main body classroom and supporting students across different areas of the school, including Autism Base provisions.

The post includes an NJC scale point 3 salary of £25,614 full-time, with actual pro rata salary £19,672 per year, plus SEN allowance of £1,590 per annum. Closing date: 13 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working with young people with complex needs, preferably within an educational setting.
• Nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
• Physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs.
• Ability to support teaching and learning within a special needs setting.
• Ability to monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders.
• Willingness to participate in own professional development.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher and work with a form group in the main body.
• Support pupils in both class and subject movements around the school.
• Work with the Autism Base to support social interaction, regulation and communication skills.
• Align with EHCP outcomes and contribute to a safe, structured learning environment.
