Job summary

Academics is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join an SEN school between Brockenhurst and Lymington in the New Forest area. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent role starts in September, with hours 8:30am–4:30pm (Mon-Thu) and 8:30am–4:00pm (Fri); 39 weeks of the year.

The role pays £14.24 per hour and requires GCSE English and Maths at C/4 or above with evidence provided. You will support pupils aged 7–19 with Asperger's and other autistic spectrum needs in small groups and 1:1.

Qualifications

• Must have C/4 or above in English and Maths GCSE; evidence required.
• Experience supporting children with special educational needs, ideally in SEN environment.
• Empathetic, nurturing and able to manage challenging behaviour.
• Driver preferred or live in the Lymington/Brockenhurst area.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across the school in small groups and 1:1.
• Work with pupils aged 7-19 with Asperger's syndrome and other autism spectrum needs.
• Adapt to varying situations and think on your feet.
