Job summary

Monarch Education is currently recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a Secondary SEN School in Bury, Greater Manchester, from September 2026. The role supports students aged 11-16 with a range of SEND, delivering 1:1 and small group activities and working closely with teachers and the support team.

This full-time, term-long assignment runs Monday to Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm) with a competitive daily pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting students with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy and adaptability.
  • Relevant TA qualification or equivalent experience (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Support students aged 11-16 with SEND.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group learning activities.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and the support team.
  • Support personal and pastoral needs as required.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and independent learning.

SEN Teaching Assistant Required - Bury

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? Do you have experience working with children or young adults who require additional support? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Secondary SEN School in the Bury area from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of students with a range of complex learning needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive and nurturing educational environment.

The Role
  • Support students aged 11-16 with a variety of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to deliver engaging learning activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support both inside and outside the classroom
  • Help students develop their academic, social and emotional skills
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence
  • Support students with personal and pastoral needs when required
The Ideal Candidate
  • Have previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting
  • Are patient, empathetic and adaptable
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are passionate about supporting students with additional needs
  • Can build positive relationships with students, staff and parents
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential)
