Job summary

The Edwin Group in Bury is seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support children and young adults with Autism and complex needs, helping them learn, grow and thrive in a nurturing, inclusive school.

This term-time only, full-time position offers PAYE pay £463–£500 per week, with potential for permanent appointment after a qualifying period and access to ongoing training and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people or vulnerable adults.
  • Passion for supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism, learning disabilities or complex needs.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication with pupils, staff and families.

Special Needs Teaching Assistant (full-time, temporary)
Bury
£463 - £500 per week PAYE (salary is dependent on experience and/or qualifications)
Start date: September 2026

The School and Role

This is a highly rewarding, hands-on role where your dedication and skills will directly impact pupils' growth, confidence, and well-being. You'll work alongside a passionate, experienced team in, purpose-built facilities based in Bury, that provide the ideal environment for SEN professionals to grow and make a positive impact to the lives of children with SEND.

This is a term-time only role with strong potential to become permanent following a successful qualifying period, alongside access to ongoing training and professional development. This role is ideal for candidates seeking meaningful SEN experience and long-term opportunities within special education

To be considered for thisSpecial Needs Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people or vulnerable adults
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism, learning disabilities, sensory impairments or complex needs
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with pupils, staff and families
  • Show emotional resilience and adaptability, remaining patient and positive in a fast-paced, sometimes challenging environment
  • Be reliable, proactive and committed to making a positive impact in a specialist education setting.
