Job summary

Wanstead High School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils to achieve their full potential. The role requires experience with young people who have SEND, including ADHD, ASC, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.

There may be involvement with a pupil who has Visual Impairment, with training provided. Ideal candidates will have experience delivering targeted 1:1 interventions and confidently support pupils across a wide range of abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with pupils with SEND (e.g. ADHD, ASC, SEMH, speech and language needs, moderate learning difficulties).
• Provision of targeted 1:1 interventions.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Willingness to receive training for Visual Impairment support.

At Wanstead High School, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant who is committed to supporting all pupils to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including for example ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties. The post may involve working with a pupil with Visual Impairment and so a willingness to receive training in this area is essential.

Ideally, you will bring experience of delivering targeted 1:1 interventions and be confident supporting pupils across a wide range of abilities. At Wanstead High, we have high aspirations for all our pupils, including those with SEND. Many are academically able and motivated, so a strong standard of literacy and numeracy—and a secure understanding of core subjects such as English, Maths and Science—is essential to effectively support their learning and progress.
