Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs across Derby. You will work with teachers to implement IEPs, assist in classrooms, and help learners reach their potential in an inclusive setting.

Ideal candidates have SEN experience, patience, and strong communication skills. DBS checks are required (or willingness to obtain one) with ongoing consultant support and local school opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience preferred).
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to different school settings and pupil needs.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Aspire People).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
• Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development
• Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement individual education plans (IEPs)
• Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive, safe learning environment
• Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning materials as needed
