Job summary

First For Education is seeking a patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream school in Solihull working with pupils who require additional support to access learning.

This is a full-time, long-term position, supporting pupils within a mainstream classroom environment. The role may involve working on a 1:1 basis or with small groups, depending on the needs of the school.

Qualifications

• Experience as TA or SEN TA.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND in mainstream.
• Understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language difficulties.
• Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Adapt learning activities to support different learning styles.
• Support the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons.
• Help manage behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies.
• Encourage engagement, independence and confidence.
• Work closely with the SENCO, teacher and wider support staff.
