Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a passionate SEND Learning Support Assistant to support students with Autism/ASD, ADHD and complex needs at a SEND comprehensive school in Shirebrook. You will provide 1:1 and small group support, adapting activities to access learning and promote positive behaviour.

The role is full-time and temporary with immediate start. You will work closely with teaching staff, with CPD opportunities and market leading pay. All staff are paid via PAYE to ensure correct tax and NI.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, including ASD/ADHD.
• Experience delivering 1:1 or small group support in schools.
• Strong behaviour management and adaptability.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with students and staff.

Responsibilities

The setting focuses on providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment, helping young people develop their confidence, independence and academic abilities.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant on a full-time, temporary basis, with an immediate start available. The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Autism / ASD, ADHD, complex learning needs and communication difficulties, adapting learning activities and supporting positive behaviour within the classroom.

The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly ASD, ADHD, complex needs or communication difficulties
• Experience providing 1:1 or small group support within a school or specialist education setting
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to adapt to individual learning needs
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
• A patient, caring and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
