Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Woking, Surrey is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs across local schools.

You will provide 1:1 or small-group support, help pupils access lessons and promote independence, and collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and families to tailor plans.

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who understands that every child learns differently?

We’re looking for enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistants to join schools across Woking and support pupils with a variety of special educational needs. If you have the experience, patience and resilience to help children overcome barriers to learning, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

You’ll work alongside teachers and support staff to provide tailored support that helps pupils feel confident, included and ready to learn.

Depending on the setting, your day could involve:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 or small-group support
  • Helping pupils access lessons and develop their independence
  • Supporting children with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties and other additional needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Building trusting relationships with pupils and helping them develop confidence
  • Adapting activities and resources to meet individual needs
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and parents/carers
  • Monitoring progress and contributing to pupils’ individual support plans

We’re keen to hear from people who have proven experience supporting children or young people with SEN and who are confident working in a school environment.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as an SEN TA, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Patience, empathy and a calm approach
  • The confidence to manage challenging behaviour appropriately
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare or SEN are advantageous
