Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in Godalming, Surrey. You will provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of needs and help them access the curriculum.

We value empathy, patience, and strong communication as we work with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and families to enable every child to achieve their goals in an inclusive setting. This temporary role may lead to permanent opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and ability to build positive relationships with children, families and staff.
  • Holds a TA qualification or is willing to undertake training; relevant qualifications and training required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving learning goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and parents for best outcomes.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Godalming, Surrey

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

Contract: Full-time | Term Time Only

The Role
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their individual learning goals.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for every child.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
We Are Looking For Someone Who
  • Is caring, empathetic, and patient.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with children, colleagues, and families.
  • Is adaptable, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Has experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential).
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or is willing to undertake training (desirable).
