Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant | Specialist Education Support

Location: East Grinstead

Pay: £90.00 - £95.00 per day

Contract: Full-Time / Long-Term (Term Time Only)

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 15:30 (approx.)

The Opportunity

Are you driven by the desire to make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs? We are looking for resilient, empathetic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join specialist educational teams across East Grinstead.

This isn\'t just a "fill-in" role; we are looking for individuals who crave stability and want to build deep, meaningful bonds with their pupils. You will be a cornerstone of their development, helping students with complex needs-including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health)-to flourish both in and out of the classroom.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will be much more than an assistant; you will be a mentor and a guide. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Dedicated 1:1 Support: Providing the consistency and stability specific pupils need to feel safe and successful.

  • EHCP Delivery: Working directly with Education, Health, and Care Plans to meet bespoke learning and developmental milestones.

  • Emotional Regulation: Implementing positive behaviour strategies to help students manage their emotions and navigate challenges.

  • Social Advocacy: Boosting pupils\' independence and communication skills, helping them build confidence in social settings.

  • Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborating with Teachers, SENCOs, and external therapists to provide a holistic support network.

  • Holistic Care: Assisting with personal care where necessary, always maintaining the dignity and wellbeing of the pupil.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking committed professionals in the East Grinstead area who possess:

  • Proven Experience: A solid background in supporting pupils with SEN (Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or MLD) is essential.

  • True Resilience: The ability to remain calm, patient, and nurturing, even during high-pressure moments.

  • Commitment: A desire for a long-term, consistent position where you can become a vital part of the school family.

  • Communication Skills: The ability to build instant rapport with children, colleagues, and parents.

  • Qualifications: Ideally, a Level 2 or 3 TA qualification (or significant equivalent experience).

Why Join Our West Sussex Team?
  • Competitive Rates: A reliable daily pay rate of £90.00 - £95.00.

  • Professional Growth: Access to specialised SEN training and CPD opportunities within local schools.

  • Work-Life Balance: Guaranteed Monday to Friday schedule, with all school holidays off.

  • Purpose-Driven Work: The unique reward of witnessing a child\'s progress over an entire academic year.
