Job description

Your new company
Hays Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated "Good" and "Outstanding" two-form entry primary school in the Warrington countryside. They are looking to appoint a reliable and experienced SEN teaching assistant to support a Year 2 pupil on a 1:1 basis. This is a long-term, full-time, temporary position starting in the new academic year.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant for Hays, you will join a welcoming and supportive two-form entry primary school in the picturesque Warrington countryside. You will support a Year 2 pupil with an EHCP on a 1:1 basis, assisting them throughout the day to meet their academic and physical needs. The pupil has a dual diagnosis of ASD and being non-verbal, so experience with PECs and Makaton, and delivering basic speech and language interventions, is preferred. You will also advocate for the pupil and support them during break and lunch times. Other duties include:

  1. Positive behaviour support, such as utilising the sensory room or removing the pupil from overstimulating environments.
  2. Literacy and numeracy interventions.
  3. Liaising with the SENCO regarding progress and development of ISP and EHCP.
  4. Communicating with parents/guardians about the pupil's progress, including attending parents' evenings.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered, you should have recent, referenceable classroom experience and:

  1. Be willing to undergo a DBS check.
  2. Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  3. Experience working with SEN, particularly ASD and non-verbal pupils, is advantageous.
  4. Experience with PECs and Makaton is preferable but not essential.
  5. A Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is advantageous but not required.

What you'll get in return
If successful, you will receive full support from a senior DfE-accredited recruitment consultant and enjoy benefits including:

  1. Free training.
  2. DBS costs covered upfront.
  3. Full-time temporary contract.
  4. Competitive pay rate.
  5. Company pension scheme.
  6. Full holiday entitlement.
  7. Access to exclusive vacancies.
  8. Refer a Friend scheme.
