Ansford Academy in Castle Cary, Somerset, is hiring a Teaching Assistant (1:1 & Small Groups) on a permanent, full-time basis. The role covers 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with diverse needs, reporting to the SENDCO. Salary is to be confirmed, with a clear progression path from Grade 2 to Grade 3.

The post runs 32.5 hours per week during term-time plus 1 INSET week, with paid 44.8 weeks. A DBS check is required prior to appointment, and safeguarding is paramount.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or Level 2 equivalent) with strong passes in Maths and English.
  • Desirable: Level 3/A-Level qualifications.
  • 1+ years of experience working with young people and SEND experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group learning strategies aligned with pupil profiles (SEND/SEMH).
  • Work with class teachers and SENDCO to manage pupil progress, behaviour and resources.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that builds independence, self-esteem and social engagement.
  • Provide basic administrative support and assist with First Aid (training provided).
  • Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality and health and safety standards.
