Job summary

Veritas Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in Twickenham from September 2026. You will support students aged 11–16 with SEN, helping them access lessons, build confidence and participate in learning and social activities.

The role involves personal care support, mobility assistance with wheelchairs, and collaborating with staff to deliver tailored strategies.

Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant - Twickenham

September 2026 Start | Mainstream Secondary School | Full‑Time

Veritas Education is working in partnership with a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Twickenham that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 11–16 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

The successful candidate will ideally have a background in care, support work, or SEN education and be confident supporting students with additional physical and learning needs. The role will involve personal care, including assisting with transfers between a wheelchair and classroom seating. Experience using hoists and safe wheelchair handling techniques is highly desirable.

Strong behaviour management skills and previous experience supporting young people with SEN are essential. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support and encourage positive outcomes for students.

About the School

A large co‑ed secondary school conveniently located in Twickenham, within easy reach of local bus routes and a mainline train station. Limited on‑site parking is available.
