Job summary

Academics is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Thanet in a variety of specialist settings. The role involves 1:1 support, small-group activities and aiding pupils’ confidence, independence and social skills within lessons.

We welcome candidates with SEN experience or transferable skills from education, childcare, care, youth work, mentoring or coaching. An enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Previous experience within SEN is advantageous.
  • Caring, patient and consistent approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to individual needs of pupils.
  • Confidence working collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
  • Genuine passion for working with children with additional needs.
  • An enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Thanet

Academics are currently looking for enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support a number of our client schools across Thanet. With a variety of specialist settings available, there are excellent opportunities for candidates with different levels of experience to find the right environment for them.

Our schools support pupils with a broad range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), ADHD, communication and interaction needs, and complex learning difficulties. The role will involve working closely with pupils and teaching staff to ensure every child receives the individual support they need.

Your day-to-day responsibilities could include providing 1:1 support, assisting with small-group activities, supporting pupils within lessons and helping children develop their confidence, independence and social skills. You will work as part of a supportive team and play an important role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

We're looking for individuals who are compassionate, patient and adaptable, with the ability to understand that every pupil is different. SEN experience is a strong advantage, but we are also keen to hear from candidates with transferable experience from education, childcare, care, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching or similar support-based roles.
