Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a calm and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and other additional needs in Middlesbrough. You''ll work 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils regulate emotions, build relationships, and engage with learning.

The role offers immediate start options, supportive school teams, and access to CPD training, with pay through weekly PAYE. A relevant SEN qualification and an enhanced DBS are preferred.

Qualifications

SEN Teaching Assistant Middlesbrough

What's the role?

You'll be supporting students who may struggle with regulating emotions, building positive relationships, managing behaviour, or engaging in learning due to SEMH needs and other additional learning requirements.

Your role will be to provide consistency, encouragement, and a safe environment where pupils can build confidence and succeed.

You might be:

• Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, Autism, PMLD and other additional needs
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced challenges in education
• Working 1:1 or with small groups to provide tailored support
• Helping students develop emotional regulation, social skills and confidence
• Supporting behaviour in a positive, restorative way
• Creating a calm, structured environment where students feel safe and ready to learn
• Encouraging engagement, attendance and participation in lessons

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
