Job description

Are you an experienced and patient SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time role this term?

A supportive and inclusive primary school in West Bromwich is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work full-time until the end of the academic year. This rewarding SEN role is based within the school’s SEN provision base, supporting a number of pupils in Key Stage 1 and Early Years with additional needs and working closely alongside other classroom support staff and the class teacher.

In this role you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of SEN, helping them to access learning, manage routines, and feel safe and supported within the school environment. You will work collaboratively with the SEN team, class teacher, and other support staff to ensure each child’s individual needs are met. The school is looking for a calm, nurturing, and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant who is committed to inclusive practice and supporting pupil progress.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs within the SEN provision base.
  • Providing small group and individual support as required.
  • Assisting with learning activities, routines, and transitions throughout the school day.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation using a calm and patient approach.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and other support assistants.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting children with additional needs.
  • A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • A patient, calm, and caring approach to supporting pupils with SEN.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A proactive, reliable, and flexible attitude.
