Job description

Are you an experienced and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding classroom-based role within a supportive primary school?

Flourish Education are working in partnership with a welcoming Primary School in Rowley Regis, who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and provide in-class support within a Year 4 class.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children with low-level SEN needs in a mainstream classroom setting, offering targeted support to help pupils access learning and thrive academically and emotionally.

The role is based within a Year 4 classroom, supporting pupils with a range of low-level additional needs, including social, emotional, and learning needs. You will work closely with the Class Teacher and wider school staff to provide consistent, nurturing support and help maintain a positive learning environment.

This is a full-time position, starting as soon as possible, and running until July 2026.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting pupils with low-level SEN needs within a Year 4 classroom.
  • Working closely with the Class Teacher to support the delivery of lessons and learning activities.
  • Providing tailored one-to-one and small group support where required.
  • Helping pupils to build confidence, engagement, and independence in learning.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour within the classroom.
  • Assisting with transitions between activities and supporting inclusion within mainstream lessons.
  • Working collaboratively with school staff to monitor progress and adapt support strategies.
Required Skills and Experience for this SEN Teaching Assistant role:
  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working with SEN pupils in a Primary school setting.
  • Experience supporting children with social, emotional, or learning needs.
  • A good understanding of the KS2 curriculum, particularly Year 4.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • A DBS on the Update Service or issued within the last 12 months.
  • A minimum of two excellent references.
Working for Flourish Education as a Teaching Assistant (LSA) you will receive:
  • Competitive Salary – Up to £100per day depending on experience, which equates to £19,500 per annum based on working 5 days a week for a full school year.

  • KCSIE-compliant safeguarding and prevent duty training inclusive of modules relating to legislation, FGM and abuse.
