Job summary

Flourish Education is seeking a resilient and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 2 with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour within Coventry.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, working with teachers and pastoral staff to help learners re-engage, meet EHCP targets and develop positive relationships in an inclusive environment. The role starts in September and runs until December, 08:30–15:30, full-time.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to implement strategies for emotional regulation and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to meet EHCP goals.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a Primary School supporting pupils across Key Stage 2 withSocial, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour and additional learning needs. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils re-engage with education, develop positive relationships and achieve their individual learning and behaviour targets.

This Teaching Assistant role is due to start in September and will continue until December, on a full-time basis, working 08.30 - 15.30.

The SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND including moderate learning disabilities (MLD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Implement strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation and individual learning outcomes
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to meet EHCP goals
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Support pupils with personal care or physical needs, where required
  • Promote independence, confidence and resilience in learners

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any of the following roles:

  • SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant, 1:1 TA, Behaviour Mentor
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, alternative provision or inclusive mainstream school
  • Strong understanding of SEND, particularly supporting pupils withModerate Learning Difficulty(MLD),Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties(BESD),Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Empathetic, adaptable and resilient approach
  • Excellent behaviour management strategies
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Relevant training such as Team Teachdesirable but not essential
