Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking an enthusiastic Special Needs School Teaching Assistant for the Radlett area. The role involves supporting pupils with SEN, providing tailored 1:1 and small-group help, and helping pupils access the curriculum and participate in activities.

You will work closely with teachers and parents to monitor progress, support emotional development, and foster independence in a safe, inclusive learning environment. DBS clearance is required and safeguarding training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Understanding of SEN needs and effective support strategies.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patient, caring and nurturing approach.
  • Positive behaviour management skills.
  • Passion for education and supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of SEN and disabilities.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support based on individual needs.
  • Assist pupils with accessing the curriculum and learning activities.
  • Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.
  • Assist pupils with developing life skills and confidence.
  • Monitor and report pupil progress, development and wellbeing.
  • Follow individual support plans and adapt strategies to meet needs.
  • Work with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals.
  • Encourage pupil participation in activities and independence.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Special Needs School Teaching Assistant Radlett

Location: Radlett area
Start-date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time
Pay: £85-£115pd (Dependent on experience)

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and creating a positive, nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil is encouraged to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and disabilities
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support based on individual pupil needs
  • Assist pupils with accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities
  • Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence
  • Assist pupils with developing essential life skills and confidence
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, development and wellbeing
  • Follow individual support plans and adapt strategies to meet pupils' specific needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers and external professionals
  • Encourage pupils to participate in school activities and develop their independence
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Role Requirements:
  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (preferred)
  • Understanding of a range of SEN needs and effective support strategies
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, caring and nurturing approach
  • Positive behaviour management skills
  • Passion for education and supporting young people with additional needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
  • Experience working within a special needs, primary or secondary school setting (desirable)
