GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our prominent SEN specialist partner schools in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. This full-time role is set to commence from the upcoming Easter term and offers a daily rate of £89 to £105. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Mental Health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with their social, emotional, and academic development on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in implementing personalised education plans and behaviour management strategies.
  • Encouraging pupil participation and engagement in classroom activities.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, working collaboratively with staff and external professionals.

Suitability Checks:

  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 SEN qualification, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year’s worth of career experience supporting children or young people within SEN settings.
  • Strong understanding of SEN practices and experience in assessing, evaluating, and reporting pupil progress.
  • Be patient, energetic, and adaptable with excellent communication skills.
  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Possess a child workforce, enhanced DBS on the Update Service for externally processed ones; otherwise have a DBS application processed at once, through GSL itself, if needed.
  • Provide two professional, school-based references within the last two years of employment.
