Job summary

Fitzwaryn School, part of The Propeller Academy Trust, is seeking Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs and to contribute to a therapeutic learning environment. The role offers a friendly, supportive team and the chance to grow professionally through induction and ongoing CPD.

You will work with pupils aged 3–19 with diverse needs, assisting with activities and targets while participating in enrichment and therapy programs.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children or young people in school, care or youth work.
  • Calm, patient and a strong team player.
  • Experience with EHCPs or additional needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SLD, PMLD and ASD in the classroom and across the school.
  • Assist with learning activities, therapy programmes and IEP targets.
  • Support enrichment activities (swimming, PE, community visits, horse riding).
  • Provide personal and intimate care when needed.
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and independence.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, families and therapists.

Two purpose-built centres, located within a mainstream setting just four minutes from the main site, will expand capacity and enable up to 40 additional pupils to benefit from the school’s outstanding provision.

About the Role
  • Working pattern: 8:45-15:15 Monday-Friday, including a 30 minutes unpaid lunchbreak. We support flexible working and will consider part-time hours, as long as availability includes the beginning and/and end of each working day, which are essential for this role.
