Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with a mainstream Primary School in Ormskirk to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. The role focuses on supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition / ASC across the primary age range, providing 1:1 and small group support and helping pupils access the National Curriculum.

The successful candidate will work with the class teacher to promote independence, positive behaviour and strong communication skills, in a caring, patient and adaptable manner.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition in a primary setting.
• Experience working with pupils with SEND in a primary school.
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies and differentiated learning approaches.
• Strong communication skills with pupils and staff.
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting children with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASC.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a mainstream Primary School based in the area of Ormskirk, who are looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to support children with additional learning needs in a primary school environment, helping pupils develop their confidence, communication skills and independence whilst accessing the National Curriculum.

The school is looking to take on a passionate SEND Teaching Assistant on a flexible, day-to-day basis, supporting pupils with autism spectrum disorder / ASD across the primary age range. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will provide tailored 1:1 and small group support where required, assist with classroom activities, implement individual learning strategies and work closely with the class teacher to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition / ASC
• Experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities / SEND within a primary school setting
• An understanding of behaviour management strategies and differentiated learning approaches
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
