Job summary

Career Teachers are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school supporting children and young people aged 3 to 19 with a range of needs. This is a full-time role initially via Career Teachers Agency with potential for permanent contract.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, support personalised learning, foster independence and social development, and ensure a calm, safe learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children and young people, ideally within an educational, care, youth work, or SEN setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Support students on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Assist with delivery of personalised learning programmes.
  • Promote independence, confidence and social development.
  • Create a calm, safe, and positive learning environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEN School (Full-Time)

Career Teachers are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school supporting children and young people aged 3 to 19 years with a wide range of additional learning needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people. The role will initially be through Career Teachers Agency, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a variety of special educational needs, disabilities, and complex learning difficulties. You will play a vital role in supporting both their academic progress and personal development, helping them to achieve their full potential within a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning programmes.
  • Promoting independence, confidence, and social development.
  • Creating a calm, safe, and positive learning environment.
  • Building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and behavioural needs.
  • Assisting with personal care where required.
  • Following safeguarding and behaviour management policies at all times.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • Previous experience working with children and young people, ideally within an educational, care, youth work, or SEN setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Confidence in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
