SEN Teaching Assistant
Location:Nottingham
Salary:£425 – £475 per week (depending on qualifications and experience)

About the Role

Connex Education is working in partnership with a primary school in Nottingham to recruit a dedicatedSEN Teaching Assistantfor a1:1 support role, startingin September. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity (5 days per week) to make a real difference in a child’s life by supporting their social, emotional, and academic development in a nurturing learning environment.

The successful candidate will be supporting a pupil withspecial educational needs (SEN), includingautism, anxiety, and challenging behaviours, working closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to implement tailored strategies that foster progress and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide1:1 supportfor a child with SEN in a primary school setting
  • Assist with implementingindividual education plans (IEPs)
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Adapt learning materials to meet the child’s specific needs
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and external specialists
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Assignment Details

  • Start Date:September 2025
  • Schedule:Full-time,5 days per week
  • Duration:Long-term, continuing through the academic year with potential to become permanent

Person Specification

  • Experience working withchildren aged 4–11in a UK school setting
  • Background supporting children withautism, anxiety, and/or challenging behaviours
  • Confident supporting pupils1:1or in small groups
  • Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, proactive, and committed to making a positive impact
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for a new one)
