Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking dedicated SEN Support Assistants to join a mainstream primary school in Wigan on a full-time, five-day week basis. The role supports pupils with autism, SLD, SEMH and other needs with 1-to-1 and small group assistance alongside classroom teachers.

Ideal candidates will have prior SEN experience, a resilient and empathetic approach, and an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) with availability Monday to Friday for an immediate start.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or care setting preferred.
• Resilient, patient and empathetic approach to education.
• Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through Tradewind.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-to-1 and small group support to students with SEN.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, tailored lessons.
• Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Help manage student behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies.
• Track student progress and assist with daily classroom organisation.

Job Description Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Assistants to work on a full-time, 5-day-a-week basis within a partner mainstream primary school in Wigan. This role requires an immediate start to support students with diverse learning needs, including autism (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties (SLD), and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1-to-1 and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs.
• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging, tailored lessons and activities.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Help manage student behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies
• Track student progress and assist with daily classroom organisation.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or care setting is highly desirable.
• A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach to education.
• A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the update service (or willingness to process one immediately through Tradewind).
• Availability to work Monday through Friday on a full-time basis, starting ASAP.
