Job summary

GSL Education - London Primary is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and other needs in a Redbridge primary school. You will work closely with teachers to implement safe, supportive learning plans and help pupils progress.

Experience with ASD, ADHD or speech and language difficulties is beneficial. This role offers competitive daily rates and immediate placement options, with safeguarding checks required.

Qualifications

Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

Location: Redbridge

Salary: £90-£110 per day (depending on experience)

Start Time: September

About the Role

Supporting children with special educational needs in a primary school setting, working closely with pupils who require additional support due to ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or SEMH needs.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils on a one‑to‑one or small group basis with a focus on individual learning plans.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and support emotional regulation.
  • Assist with classroom tasks, including lesson preparation and resource organisation.
  • Encourage pupil participation and progress through praise and positive reinforcement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and report concerns promptly.
Requirements
  • Prior experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in a primary setting.
  • Strong understanding of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient nature.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff alike.
  • Updated CV covering the last ten years and an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Must satisfy all safeguarding and child protection checks, including enhanced DBS.
