Qualifications

  • Experience in an employed or voluntary setting working with SEN.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils according to school policies.
  • Provide feedback on pupil behaviour and support positive behaviour.
  • Implement learning activities and adjust as necessary under teacher direction.

Job description

Teaching Assistant SEN
Location:Effingham, Surrey
Salary:£12.99 - £13.89 per hour (£23,210 - £24,818 actual salary dependant on qualifications) Plus £1000 Welcome bonus *
Hours: 40 hours per week-Term Time only - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 4.45pm. Thursday 5pm and Friday 4pm

Teaching Personnel have a fantastic opportunity to work with a SEN Secondary school based in Surrey. The school support pupils aged 11-16 they have associated behavioural and communication difficulties. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties.

Key duties:

  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
  • Provide meaningful feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships and attitudes.
  • Support positive behaviour and concentration levels of the children and adapt own behaviour and responses to any change or escalations in behaviour of the children.
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times and support in the achievement of this.
  • Implement, and when appropriate, adjust learning activities as agreed with the teacher. Reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers
  • Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher.
  • Implement learning activities and experiences, appropriate to the class group, by supporting the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning. Pupils Attainment and Progress

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

  • Experience working with SEN in an employed or voluntary setting
  • A recognised qualification at Level 2 or above in Support work for Teaching and Learning in Schools or an equivalent is desirable
  • GCSE Maths and English Language qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience of pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD
