The Role

Join a warm, welcoming primary special school that provides outstanding support for children aged 3 to 11 with a range of severe and complex learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a warm, supportive team focused on helping children with SEN thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This role offers the chance to make a real, lasting impact on children\'s lives through one-on-one and small group support.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored, consistent support to children with diverse SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities.
• Assist teaching staff in planning and delivering engaging, personalised learning activities.
• Support children during lessons, breaks, and extracurricular activities to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
• Foster positive relationships with pupils to build their confidence, independence, and social skills.
• Help manage behavioural challenges with empathy and positive reinforcement techniques.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to adapt resources and strategies.
• Assist with record-keeping and progress monitoring to track pupil development.

What We're Looking For

• Experience working in an SEN setting (either as a TA/LSA or in a similar support role) — essential.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Understanding of different SEN conditions and relevant teaching/support strategies.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with pupils and staff.
• Patience, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
• Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undergo).
