Job summary

Flourish Education in Oldbury is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs in a specialist SEND provision.

You will work with the class teacher and SEND team to deliver learning, develop communication and social skills, and help pupils access education in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children with high SEND needs is essential.
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, behavioural needs, speech and language needs, and global developmental delay.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification is desirable.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learning.

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time role within a supportive and inclusive Primary School environment?

A welcoming Primary School in Oldburyis seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEND provision on a long-term basis.

This full-time position will begin in September and continue until July 2027, offering an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with additional needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly supportive staff team committed to providing outstanding care and education for pupils with complex SEND. The Nest is a specialist provision within the school, consisting of 8 pupils aged 6-10 with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), behavioural needs, global developmental delay, and speech and language needs. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team to create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.

This role is focused on providing high-quality support to pupils with complex SEND, helping them to access learning, develop communication and social skills, regulate their emotions, and achieve their individual targets. Previous experience working with children with high SEND needs is essential.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting pupils with a range of complex SEND, including ASD, behavioural needs, global developmental delay, and speech and language needs
  • Working alongside the class teacher to deliver personalised learning and intervention activities
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Using positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets
  • Working collaboratively with the wider SEND team and external professionals where appropriate
  • Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Maintaining accurate records where required and following school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times
To be successful in this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification is desirable
