Job summary

Master Class Education Limited is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant for a secondary SEN school in Basingstoke, starting September 2026 or sooner. The role is term-time only, 08:30-15:30, Monday to Friday, with a daily rate of £85-£95.

The school supports pupils with ASC, SLCN, ADHD, and SEMH, among others, and values patience, resilience, and strong relationships. Applicants with backgrounds in care, support work, youth work or residential settings are welcomed for transferable

Qualifications

  • Patience, empathy and resilience are essential.
  • Experience in education or care settings is desirable.
  • Background in support work, youth work or residential settings is a plus.

  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and engagement
  • Helping pupils develop independence, confidence and social skills

SEN Teaching Assistant

Secondary SEN School | Basingstoke

Term Time Only | 08:30-15:30 | Monday-Friday

£85-£95 a day

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist secondary SEN school from September 2026 or sooner if possible.

The school supports pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), ADHD, sensory processing needs, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and pupils with complex learning difficulties. Many of the pupils require consistent routines, patient support, and strong, trusting relationships to help them feel safe and ready to learn.

This is a highly rewarding role where no two days are the same. We are particularly interested in applicants who may have a background in care, support work, youth work or residential settings, as these skills are highly transferable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting the class teacher to adapt learning for individual needs
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and engagement
  • Helping pupils develop independence, confidence and social skills
  • Assisting with personal care where required
  • Promoting a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment

  • Has experience in education, care or support work (desirable but not essential)
