Job summary

Reed Nottingham is seeking an experienced SEN Teacher for an Alternative Provision, located in Nottingham. You will work with pupils aged 7–19 who may have SEND, SEMH needs, or who have become disengaged from mainstream education, delivering personalised teaching and building strong relationships.

In this role you will plan differentiated lessons, track progress, collaborate with families and agencies, and contribute to a holistic curriculum that blends academic, life skills and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE required.
  • Ability to teach Maths at KS3/KS4 or Functional Skills is desirable.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and pupil-centred approach.
  • Resilient, reflective, and committed to professional development.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Desirable: SEN/SEMH/Alternative provision experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across the curriculum.
  • Set personalised targets and track progress through baseline assessments.
  • Support pupils' academic, emotional, and social development.
  • Use restorative and relational approaches to behaviour and engagement.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with families, external agencies, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and resource planning.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding at all times.
