Job summary

Reed is seeking a Teaching Assistant for an Alternative Provision in Newhaven. The role supports students inside and outside the classroom, helping deliver engaging activities and managing behaviour to foster positive progress.

The successful candidate will build strong relationships with pupils, provide pastoral support, and work with teachers and support staff to create a nurturing learning environment for learners who need tailored pathways.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Confident, patient and resilient.
• Able to build positive relationships and act as a strong role model.
• Experience within education, youth work, care, residential settings, or support work is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support students both inside and outside the classroom
• Assist with the delivery of engaging learning activities
• Help manage behaviour positively and consistently
• Build strong relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress
• Provide emotional and pastoral support where required
• Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider support team
