Job summary

GSL Education Kent is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join an independent/non-maintained special school in Ashford, Kent. The role focuses on supporting children with SEMH, autism, or ADHD through tailored, engaging lessons and strong relationships with learners and staff.

The successful candidate will deliver differentiated work, collaborate with therapists and leaders, and help pupils build confidence and academic progress in a structured environment.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent qualification required.
  • Experience with SEN/SEMH needs desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs and additional learning difficulties.
  • Create a structured, nurturing classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and external professionals to support learners.
  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience and confidence in pupils.
