Are you a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity? We are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a specialist secondary school in Somerset on a maternity cover basis. This small, community-focused school provides tailored education for students aged 11-18 with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs), supporting a wide range of additional needs.

The role:

This fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and well-resourced special school, delivering high-quality, individualised learning. The school follows the preparing for adulthood framework, with a strong emphasis on life skills, independence and employment. As a SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students
  • Provide a nurturing, structured learning environment to support students’ personal and academic development
  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team, including therapists and support staff
  • Foster strong relationships with parents, carers and external partners to ensure consistency and progress
  • Utilise the school’s specialist facilities, including sensory rooms and therapy spaces, to support learning

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS), experience in special educational needs (SEN) is advantageous
  • Experience working with students with complex needs, including autism, communication difficulties and SEMH
  • A creative, adaptable and compassionate approach to teaching
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff, parents and external agencies
  • A commitment to preparing students for life beyond school, with a focus on independence and employability
  • A highly supportive environment with a collaborative team and strong leadership
  • Excellent resources, including sensory rooms, therapy spaces and work experience opportunities
