Job summary

Monarch Education are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teacher (Primary) to lead a small class in the Footsteps provision in Wigston (LE18). You will deliver an individualized curriculum focused on communication and early development for pupils with ASD and related needs.

The role requires QTS, experience with SEND, and a patient, adaptable teaching style. The school offers a supportive, inclusive ethos and opportunities to develop CPD.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience with SEND (ASD and communication needs).
  • Experience in specialist SEND settings is desirable.
  • Ability to plan differentiated, engaging lessons aligned to EHCP targets.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated, engaging lessons tailored to individual EHCP targets.
  • Support pupils with ASD and communication needs using structured approaches.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
  • Work closely with support staff, SENCO and external professionals.
  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress.
  • Implement strategies to support behaviour, communication and sensory needs.

SEN Teacher - (Primary)

Location: Wigston, Leicestershire (LE18)

Start Date: Autumn Term 2026

Contract: Full-time (part-time considered for the right candidate)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Monarch Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wigston (LE18) to recruit a dedicated SEN Teacher to work within their specialist "Footsteps" provision.

This nurturing and well-supported school prides itself on its strong inclusive ethos, providing tailored support for pupils with additional needs. The Footsteps Unit is a specialist provision designed to support pupils with communication and interaction needs, including Autism (ASD), offering a highly personalised and structured learning environment.

The Role:

You will be leading a small class of approximately 10 pupils with communication and interaction needs, many of whom are working developmentally between age 2 and Reception level. The role requires a compassionate, adaptable and skilled practitioner who can deliver a highly individualised curriculum focused on communication, engagement, and early development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver differentiated, engaging lessons tailored to individual EHCP targets
  • Support pupils with ASD and communication needs using structured approaches

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly ASD and communication needs
  • Strong understanding of early development and personalised learning approaches
  • A patient, nurturing and flexible teaching style
  • Experience in specialist settings or SEND provisions is highly desirable
