Are you a qualified and passionate SEN Teacher dedicated to supporting children with special educational needs? We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and committed SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adapt the curriculum, learning activities, and resources to meet individual learning styles, abilities, and needs.
- Develop and implement individual learning plans and targeted interventions where appropriate.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, parents, carers, and other professionals to support pupils' progress and development.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and create a calm, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
- Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, behavioural, and communication development.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to support pupils with different needs, including communication, learning, behavioural, and sensory needs.
- Monitor, assess, and record pupils' progress and use assessment information to inform future planning.
- Set realistic and challenging targets that encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Support pupils who may display challenging behaviour through consistent, positive, and nurturing behaviour management strategies.
- Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils have equal access to learning opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, SENCOs, school leaders, and external professionals regarding pupils' needs and progress.
- Support pupils during wider school activities, trips, break times, and other activities where required.
- Follow school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, behaviour, and confidentiality.
- Take part in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Requirements

- The ability to plan and deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider SEN and school team.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A commitment to inclusion and ensuring every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.
- A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
