About the School

Options Higford is an independent specialist day school for autistic children and young people aged 5-19 who may also have other associated behavioural needs.

Set within 28 acres of Shropshire countryside, the school provides a calm, structured and nurturing environment. Students learn within small class groups of up to five, supported by high levels of skilled staff.

Our curriculum is personalised through four pathways:
  • Engage - sensory engagement, interaction, communication, regulation and early cognition.
  • Explore - early communication, literacy, numeracy and wider-world learning through structured exploration.
  • Apply - applying and generalising knowledge and skills through a more structured subject learning and community access.
  • Future - preparation for life, independence, employability, life skills and community participation.

Learning is linked closely to students' EHCP outcomes and supported by an in-house clinical team.

Ofsted judged the school to be Good in 2025 and recognised its calm and purposeful environment, positive relationships, high aspirations and commitment to developing students' communication and independence.

At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer.
