Job summary

Outcomes First Group is seeking an SEN Teacher at Copper Fields School in Gunnislake, Cornwall, to deliver engaging, inclusive learning for pupils with SEND. The role may include aSubject Responsibility task to help shape curriculum across the school.

You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to support pupils’ development and prepare them for life beyond school, building confidence and independence.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching children and young people with SEND.
  • Ability to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Ability to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Strong relationship-building and wellbeing support.
  • Aspirations to develop curriculum leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons meeting individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Adapt teaching approaches and resources to ensure all pupils access learning.
  • Monitor progress and use evidence to inform future teaching.
  • Create nurturing, structured, engaging learning environments.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Collaborate with therapists, families and external professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, progress meetings and pupil reports.
  • Participate in enrichment activities and school events.

Job Title: SEN teacher (with potential for subject responsibility)
Location: Copper Fields School, Gunnislake, PL18 9EH
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Hours: 40.5 hours per week Monday 8.30am - 5.00pm Tuesday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm
Contract: Permanent Term Time Only
Start: January 2027

About the Role

As an SEN Teacher, you'll deliver engaging, inclusive and ambitious learning tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEND. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team, you'll create a safe and positive learning environment where every achievement is celebrated and every pupil is supported to reach their potential. For candidates with the relevant experience and ambition, there is also the opportunity to take on aSubject Responsibility role, helping to shape and develop an area of the curriculum across the school.

You'll build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues, helping young people develop confidence, independence and the skills they need for life beyond school.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Planning and delivering personalised lessons that meet pupils' individual learning needs, EHCP outcomes and developmental targets.
  • Adapting teaching approaches, resources and communication methods to ensure every pupil can access learning successfully.
  • Monitoring and assessing progress, using evidence to inform future teaching and celebrate achievement.
  • Creating nurturing, structured and engaging learning environments that promote confidence and independence.
  • Supporting pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development through positive and relational approaches.
  • Working collaboratively with therapists, support staff, families and external professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Contributing to annual reviews, progress meetings and pupil reports.
  • Playing an active role in the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities, educational visits and school events.
What you will bring
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching children and young people with SEND, or can demonstrate a strong commitment to specialist education.
  • Understand the importance of creating inclusive learning environments where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Can deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to a wide range of learning needs.
  • Are skilled in building positive relationships and supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.
  • Thrive as part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team.
  • Have aspirations to develop curriculum leadership skills or previous experience leading a subject area.
