Job summary

Polaris Education – Becker School in Batley is seeking a qualified SEN Teacher to deliver high quality lessons within the national curriculum, addressing ASC & SEMH needs.

You will work with a supportive team, plan and assess pupil progress, and contribute to a safe, inclusive environment for children aged 5 to 13. QTS and a degree are essential, with experience in SEND preferred.

Qualifications

  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS).
  • Degree level qualification required.
  • Experience in teaching, preferably KS1/2.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND in an educational setting.
  • Experience in behaviour management and techniques.
  • Commitment to professional development and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high quality lessons within the national curriculum while meeting ASC & SEMH needs.
  • Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
  • Report on pupils' progress and liaise with staff to meet needs.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time including trips and activities.
  • Build positive relationships and drive interactive learning outcomes.

About our School

Located in Batley, Kirklees our new school offers a safe and supportive environment for pupils from 5 to 13 years old. We are part of the Polaris Community and have been passionately improving the lives of young people for over 30 years.

Role responsibilities
  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality lessons within the national curriculum whilst meeting the complex ASC & SEMH needs of all pupils.
  • Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
  • Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
  • Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
  • Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS)
  • Suitable qualification to degree level
  • Previous successful teaching experience, preferably teaching KS1/2
  • Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEND within an Educational setting
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn
  • Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work
