Job summary

Polaris Education is seeking a SEN Teacher for Becker School in Batley. You will plan and deliver lessons within the national curriculum, addressing ASC and SEMH needs while supporting the teaching team and reporting on pupil progress.

Applicants should hold QTS, a degree, and have SEND experience with strong behaviour management. DBS clearance is required prior to starting. The role is full-time, term-time only, 37.5 hours per week, with benefits including pension and life assurance.

Qualifications

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Degree level qualification.
  • Previous successful teaching experience, preferably KS1/2.
  • Some experience working with pupils with SEND in an educational setting.
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques.
  • Willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high quality lessons within the national curriculum while meeting ASC & SEMH needs.
  • Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
  • Report on pupils' progress and liaise with staff to meet pupil needs.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including activities and trips.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and drive positive learning outcomes.

Located in Batley, Kirklees our new school offers a safe and supportive environment for pupils from 5 to 13 years old.

Role responsibilities
  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality lessons within the national curriculum whilst meeting the complex ASC & SEMH needs of all pupils.
  • Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
  • Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
  • Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
  • Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS)
  • Suitable qualification to degree level
  • Previous successful teaching experience, preferably teaching KS1/2
  • Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEND within an Educational setting
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn
  • Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work
